The site was founded in 2013 in response to a series of conversations with faculty and students at Parsons The New School for Design regarding the state and impact of new media on architectural design and criticism. Recognizing a particular void in the media and reconsidering the potential role this site could, or should, have, Critical Architecture was re-launched in March 2014 focused on providing a pedagogically driven voice within the field.
I owe a great debt to the faculty, practitioners, and students who helped shape this vision and to Paul Goldberger and Jean Gardner in particular for their role in the conversations that sparked the initial motivation to take on this task. I would like to personally thank everyone for their ongoing support and advice as we work to build a strong team, develop content and resources, and share our knowledge and experience with the next generation of students and young professionals.
